2017 Northern California Award Winner, Residential Remodels: Great Room Addition

This project won the 2017 National Association of the Remodeling Industry's REMMIE award for Northern California in the category of 'residential additions over $250K'. Project scope was to create a larger gourmet kitchen & connected family room with an open concept floorplan; create better traffic flow throughout the main "public" part of the house; add an interior laundry room and enhance the main kitchen, dining, family & living rooms for this family that does a lot of cooking and entertaining with adults & kids.

To accomplish this, we moved the small L-shaped kitchen from the front of the house to the back and extended this space of a new addition with a family room, fireplace and a wall of windows to take in the beautiful open space of the back yard. The roof of the new addition became a covered porch (with overhead gas heater, ceiling fan & outdoor TV, directly off of the kitchen-family room for outdoor dining and entertaining that extends the living space.
