Our team’s strong communication skills, business acumen and project management skills address all the various aspects of the construction process. We work closely with contractors, engineers, architects and subcontractors ensuring all the big and little details are addressed with logical and creative solutions. From space planning to material choices, drafting of construction documents, and troubleshooting with the clients and vendors, we have the knowledge and expertise to manage all areas of the construction process.
Our continuing educational discipline to learn the newest technologies, allows us to approach each project using the latest products, lighting and sustainable options for your home, all while keeping a keen eye on your budget and needs. We meet regularly with manufacturers, suppliers and trade resources to share ideas to specify the most efficient and cost-effective design details to build your dream space.
Meet the Team
Judy
Principal and Lead Interior Designer
Judy is an award-winning interior designer with 30+ years in residential interior design in the Bay Area. Judy works exclusively on referrals, and her extensive knowledge of architecture and interiors makes her one of the most in demand designers in the area. Her knowledge and attention to every small detail make her homes the most spectacular with little finishes that complete every space. Her homes have been featured in HOUZZ and other publications. Judy’s strengths are in cultivating relationships with her clients to ensure they are in lock step with the contractors, architects and engineers as well as her deep attention to the fine details. She has a vast network of contacts for craftsmen, finishes and materials ensuring your project gets exactly what you want to complete the fine details of your home.
Judy is a member of NKBA, NARI Bay Area and Diablo Chapters, NAHB, Judy attended Southern Connecticut State University with a Double major in Fine Arts and Education. Judy honed her skills working for a cabinet maker, a stone fabricator, worked for contractors and is a former art teacher at St. Paul’s. In her spare time Judy likes to visit with her daughter in Santa Barbara and spending time with her partner Garett on weekend trips to art galleries, wineries, cooking and seeing architecture through the world.
Liz
Interior Designer
Liz is an interior designer and joined JD Designs after working independently for 4 years. Liz spent 20 years in Finance and FinTech marketing and product management before she followed her passion into interior design. Liz loves helping individuals, families and couples build and design functional and comfortable spaces they enjoy. Her strengths are in space planning, functional spaces for all ages and specifying materials and finishes. She is currently completing her Interior Architecture and Interior Design certification at UC Berkeley Extension. Liz earned an MBA from USF in Marketing and holds a BA from LMU in European History with a minor in business. Her business savvy and keen eye to attention to detail are a great addition to our growing firm. Liz is married with two college sons and in her spare time she likes to play mahjong, pickleball and going on walks with husband and her dog, Bella Rose.
Maggie
Office and Project Coordinator
Maggie is our office coordinator, and one the who helps ensure we are all on the same page. Maggie manages our project timelines, punch lists, materials ordering, materials library and shipping & receiving. Maggie is originally from Maryland and she received a BFA from Clark University. Maggie is married with two college age daughters. In her spare time she loves going to art museums and exploring California with her husband, and going on hikes with her dog Bongo.
Susan
Accounting Manager
Susan runs the accounting and invoicing activities for our clients, business partners and office. She is the keeper of the time sheets and helps ensure our clients see and understand where the dollars are being spent. Prior to JD Designs Susan worked as a CPA at Advanced Micro Devices and in addition to her CPA certification, she holds an accounting and finance degree from Scottish University. Susan is married with 2 boys in college and in her spare time loves playing pickleball and golf.
In addition to our staff, we have access to a team of draftsmen/women who we work with daily on all CAD drawings and interior renderings.
